Cash Management

Cash Management is an integral part of the Treasury function. Good cash management consists of knowing when, where and how your cash needs will occur and determining the best funding source to meet these cash needs. The starting point for good cash flow management is developing a way to project future cash use. By looking at the current business needs as well as historical cash flows, the Treasury Manager will be able to determine the minimum level of cash reserves that the University will require. By keeping cash reserves to a minimum, the University will be able to maximize its investment returns by reducing the amount of cash held in bank. In summary, the Cash Management function serves the dual purpose of maintaining the day to day cash operations and maximizing overnight returns by investing idle cash.
