Dear Student,
Please make note of the following items of Very Important Information:
Effective Spring 2009, you will be responsible for dropping your own classes and must do so prior to the end of the add/drop period on Monday, January 12. The university does not plan to drop courses automatically for non-payment prior to the start of classes.
The $100 late payment fee will be assessed if full payment is not received by Friday, January 9th and a $100 late registration fee will be assessed if you do not register by January 5th.
The deadline for Short Term Loans has been extended until Friday, January 9th.
The University will be closed from Monday, December 29th thru Friday, January 2nd for the Holiday break. The Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar’s, and Student Financials Offices will remain open Monday, December 29th through Wednesday, December 31st from 8:00AM to 5:00PM with limited staffing. You may remit payment in-person through December 31st at the Student Financial Offices or online through January 2nd. The University Health Services Department will remain open during this period between 9:00am and 5:00pm.
Courses will not be automatically dropped by the University prior to the end of the drop/add period. All Students are responsible for dropping their courses prior to the end of the drop/add period. Students are financially liable for all courses that have not been dropped after the add/drop period ends.
Short Term Loans for partial tuition, based on enrollment, are available beginning Monday December 15, 2008 through Friday January 9, 2009 during normal business hours in person at the Financial Aid Office, PC 125, University Park Campus and the Enrollment Center, ACI 100, Biscayne Bay Campus.
Remember you can avoid waiting in line at the Student Financials Office and make a payment via the web using the information below.
You can make a payment by going into MyFIU portal, selecting Self-Service, then Campus Finances, and then Make a Payment and either selecting “Pay by Electronic Check” or “Pay by Credit Card.” Please note - Only American Express, MasterCard or Discover are accepted and a 2% fee will be assessed when using a credit card (no fees are assessed for electronic checks).
